Silent Space 03:38
I say the way you glow is pure as idleness dogs bark and yet you glide cars honk and you appreciate breathe out into a silent space breathe out into a silent space Here where our two hands uninterruptble co-mingle as we fly down South I-55 breathe out into a silent space I watch your eyes they scan the road one hand - the wheel the other free to twist and hold I say the way you smile is innocent as a baby you say do not assume from how things appear to be breathe out into a silent space I watch your eyes they scan the lane one hand the wheel the other free to reach and hold me But there are no turns yet there are no shocking curves when we must drag our hands away That will come I say the way you glow is pure as idleness dogs bark and yet you glide cars honk and you appreciate breathe out into a silent space breathe out into a silent space breathe out into a silent space

Clues 03:02
There are clues hidden in the neck there are hints frozen in the bone in the way that we walk and the way that we talk there are clues frozen in our bones There are pasts weighted to be reasons they are birds clawing to be home well they wing over here while they wish they were there they are birds clawing to be home There are hints hidden in the corridor there are words clambering to be known whispering over, clambering over there are words there is truth that this is an illusion there's a lie, the lie is that I've known in the ways that we sniff in the ways that we moan there's a lie, the lie is that I've known there are hints hidden in the corridor there are words clambering to be known whispering over, clambering over there are words there are clues that have settled from the neck there are hints that have risen from the bone whispering over, clambering over there are words whispering over, clambering over there are clues In the ways that we walk in the ways that we talk there are clues that have risen from the bone

On a fifteen story ledge barely dusk, deep autumn warm as brandy an orange sky clouds like breaths like white birds like seagulls from the sea Our toes line up against the ledge so it seems like we might fall but we don't fall we don't fall we smile and raise our arms as if to dive, as if to dive it's faith People walking sideways with shopping bags and knapsacks look like candy corn baby carriages matchbox cars an accordion that's a piano We view the scene together with serpent eyes and devil hearts but we don't fall we don't fall we laugh and raise our hands as if to glide, as if to glide it's faith We trust we have good balance with faith in fate unknown we hope we'll see tomorrow in this echo of the dawn

Gravity 01:56
Do you ever wonder how the world goes spinning so fast it's amazing all the stuff don't go flying out the window. Apparently the spin creates gravity. It's what keeps us in our beds, keeps us on our toes, keeps stuff up our nose. Do you ever wonder how the world goes spinning so fast does this mean when we're at work we're really at home. And if you think you're in Brazil you're in Switzerland. Did you ever think how where you are a second ago there stood another guy?

I used to buy small animals at Woolworth's the parakeets there often looked so sad and puffed up and the gerbils were pretty scruffy but the other rodents seemed to be ok and every now and then a new parakeet or finch or turtle would arrive that showed a little bit of extra sunshine These I would buy before the monotony of the store had a chance to grind them down I would take them home with me My baby male hamster had seven babies I figured this one out when the cat knocked over the cage and I saw little pink things squirming in the cedar Mamma hamster ate most of her babies but two of them survived then got this weird hamster disease where their testicles swelled up to the size of golf balls These I would buy before the monotony of the store had a chance to grind them down I would take them home with me home with me, home with me and eventually they would die horrible, freaky, suburban little deaths. The cat used to eat all of the birds he'd climb up on the wall, take them out of the cage and eat them then deposit them behind the sofa The cat used to knock around the turtle he'd lift up his left paw and knock it flat against the wall and I'd hear a crack… CHORUS

We sat on a kitchen table quietly sipping cokes outside the light had gone a painting of a city i did not know hung near me on the wall i did not know Dots of red and green and blue and white swam in a sea of black I could see myself in the painting in the city I did not know that hung near me on the wall floating bits of color I did not know I did not know I did not know what was possible what was possible To see the full image one had to first step back and imagine what was even possible

Steaks as big as your steaks as big as your steaks as big as your steaks as big as your steaks as big as your steaks as big as your head We meet on Thursday in a Colombian restaurant on the near north side of town and eat steaks as big as your head. In the weeks that we've had over Chanukah and New Years all this time we're spent apart I've had time to reflect I've decided to let it go. That's what you want. that's what I want. we just don't know how much we're finally in agreement. So I eat the rest of your fries you sip the rest of my coke amid the clatter and blather or crows. Well I bring it up or you bring it up. who knows? It's like a steak as big as your head You've decided to let it go. That's what I want. that's what you want
